This brainstorming exercise is intended to develop a list of specific
objectives, actions, or strategies to achieve each Key Vision Statement
identified during this workshop. Please identify the Key Vision Statement that
your group is considering and then record a list of potential strategies.

- Real estate taxes why so high compared to other communities?
- Preserve heritage/roots of village.
- All new construction should have s/t to tie and pull Mt. Horeb together.
- Mt. Horeb needs an "identity" and consistent marketing.
- Subdivision names should reflect cohesiveness.
- Grant money for downtown preservation.
- Support small business personal shopper/delivery, etc.
- Market and pull in new residents to build community and support local

- Emphasis on architectural vs. snout houses/ugly subdivisions.

Emphasize and Protect Natural Areas and Parks

- Develop natural area parks with historic ecosystem remnants.
- Replace par course (removed from high school property).
- Natural area park attached to market at east end of town.
- Develop science, geography, history interpretive exhibits at parks.
- Protect headwaters of urban and modern culture.

- Promote conservation subdivisions with large green spaces.
- Build a naturarium (like Veronas).
- Preserve, maintain, and enhance natural resources of Mount Horeb and
surrounding areas to provide diverse opportunities.
- Partner with local groups.
- Limit impervious surfaces.
- Control stormwater.
- Encourage infiltration.
- Identify special areas.
- Identify larger park areas which incorporate natural features.
- Develop nature-based activities (hiking trail, etc.)
- Possible arboretum to showcase interesting trees and shrubs.

Controlled Growth

- Limit annexations.
- Large lot sizes (10,000 15,000 sq. ft.).
- Cap growth at 1% - 2% per year.
- Limit number of building permits issued per year.
- Impact study on nearby developed areas by new subdivisions. Consider
traffic flow through these areas.
- Lottery on building permits.
- Study growth cap plans already in place.
- Determine ratio of single family residences to multi-family rental
properties.
- Control residential growth.
