Area State Trails/Parks:

 

Military Ridge Recreation Trail (click here to find out more info on this trail)

This trail is a 40 mile crushed limestone trail extending from Dodgeville to Verona.  A trail pass is required.  For trail information call (608) 437-7393.

 

Blue Mounds Park (click here for more info on this park)

This park has picnic shelters, campsites, playground equipment, nature viewing areas, observation towers, access to Military Ridge Trail, miles of hiking and a swimming pool.  For park information and reservations call (608) 437-5711.

Parks that have shelters/ball fields that can be

reserved are:

 

Boecks Park

This park is located at 204 Park Street right next to the Mt Horeb Family Aquatic Center and has a shelter that can be reserved.  This park also has playground equipment, picnic tables and rest rooms.

 

Grundahl Park

This park is located at 401 Blue Mounds Street and has a picnic shelter, enclosed shelter, and softball field that are all reservable.  This park also has playground equipment, basketball court, sand volleyball court, picnic tables, water fountain and restrooms.

 

Liberty Park

This park is located at 1201 Cox Drive and has a shelter that can be reserved.  This park also has a soccer/football field, playground equipment, picnic tables, concession area, water fountain and restrooms.

 

Waltz Park

This park is located at 401 Brian Street and has a shelter that can be reserved.  This park also has a softball field/soccer field, playground equipment, basketball court, picnic tables, water fountain, sand volleyball court, access to Military Ridge Trail and restrooms.

 

 

To reserve a shelter or ball field:

 

1.  Call the Recreation Department at (608) 437-3400 or email mhrec@mhtc.net to check availability.

 

2.  Once availability is determined, you must stop in to the Recreation Department to fill out the reservation form and make payment.  Shelter fees are $40(residents) and $50(non-residents).  Ball field fees are $45(single weekday use), $65(single weekend use) and $120(whole weekend use).

 

3.  If your shelter requires a key, we will let you know when you can pick it up.  Keys must be returned to the Recreation Department within one week after your rental.

 

4.  A confirmation of your reservation will be mailed to you.  Please bring this confirmation notice with you the day of your function.

 

5.  Refunds will not be provided if you cancel your reservation less than two weeks prior to you reservation date.  If your event is cancelled due to poor weather, and a rain date cannot be agreed upon, you will receive a full refund.

Grandma Fosters Park

This park has a picnic shelter, picnic tables, water fountain and playground equipment.

 

Garfield Park

This park has an open field play area.

 

Himsel Park

This park has playground equipment and a basketball court.

 

Jaycee Park

This park has a shelter, picnic tables, playground equipment and a basketball court.

 

Lions Park

This park has a shelter, picnic tables, playground equipment, grill, water fountain and a basketball court.

 

Nesheim Park

This park has playground equipment and a basketball court.

 

Viking Park

This park has a basketball court, tennis courts and two practice fields.

 

     

 

Volleyball Equipment Rental

Includes:  Volleyball, net and poles

Fee:  $12.00 with a required $20 refundable deposit to ensure the equipment will be returned in good condition.  Inquire at the Recreation Department (437-3400).
